A Venezuelan delegation led by interim President Delcy Rodríguez traveled to New York during the United Nations General Assembly for talks with U.S. and international officials, Reuters reported on September 21.
Reuters reported that discussions include debt restructuring, energy and mining investment, and possible engagement with institutions including the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Venezuela is dealing with a large stock of sovereign and state-oil-company debt while seeking new investment in energy and other industries. Talks do not by themselves establish that financing or restructuring agreements have been completed.
