Anthropic launched Claude Opus 5.5 on September 22, saying the model delivers performance comparable with its top-tier systems while costing less to run than its predecessor, according to Reuters.
The company priced Opus 5.5 at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. Anthropic also said the model underwent external evaluations by independent AI-safety research groups before release.
The model is available through major cloud platforms, and Anthropic said additional Sonnet and Haiku 5.5 models are planned in the coming weeks. Those plans are company statements, not confirmed future release dates.
